Day Nine: To Logrono (Snail´s Pace)

How often do you carry everything on your back?  Today, as I was walking from Torres del Rio to Logrono, a large historical and industrial city (pop. 220,000), I noticed dozens and dozens of snails. This was quite fitting because I was beginning to feel like a snail.  I have gotten my pack down to an acceptable weight (about 21.5 pounds - but then add one liter of water and that adds two more pounds).  Unlike a snail, I could feel the strain today, not only in my knees but especially in my right shoulder.  Over twenty years ago, I dislocated that shoulder in a biking accident, and it is more susceptible to discomfort, especially later in the day during the last five miles or so.  As I crept closer to Logrono, and when I saw all those white, crystal-looking snails, I couldn´t help but marvel at the wonder of God´s creation.  One friend here taught me a profound lesson:  Ounces add up to pounds and pounds add up to pain.  It´s pretty telling that a snail moves slowly along the trail, with no concern for his speed or how much his "pack" weighs...I am sure there are lessons for me to learn from this marvel in creation...
